Smiling Student

When people are new to the country, they often have many questions about how to navigate systems. How do I enroll my children in school? Where do we go if we don't have enough food? How do I correct my child's birth certificate if their name is misspelled? Language and cultural barriers can also make it difficult for them to integrate into a new culture. Family and Community Services helps meet the client where they are.

 family & community services

We work with families to provide needed information and problem solve together. We guide families through processes and advocate for them when necessary. If there is a problem that we are unable to solve, we refer the client to someone who can. Working together to meet the families' goals, we have built up a lot of trust in the community.

Our team provides services including:

registering children for Head Start   school enrollment     health materials    applications + forms   social security   unemployment    SNAP   food distribution   legal research

Let's get you connected

If we do not provide the services needed, we will work to find an agency or organization who can support you! We make referrals for:

local human + social services provides  prescription drug problems     sexual assault + domestic violence centers   crisis counseling   preventative health counseling    dental services  health services  government programs

health equity

Our Health Equity program targets seven barriers that prevent the community from providing equitable access to health resources to every member of the community:

  1. the complexity of the system

  2. language and culture barriers

  3. lack of access to networks

  4. affordability

  5. transportation

  6. stigma

  7. employment

We target these barriers to health equity and work to overcome them through:

community outreach  multilingual webinars     free COVID-19 testing events   drive-through flu shot events   telemedicine program pilot
