Intern Spotlight: David Sandiford

David joined Luminus as an Economic Empowerment Intern working directly with our New American Staffing team. He is majoring in French with a minor in International Development at the University of Maryland, College Park.

David’s future aspiration is to work in the international development field with an NGO or the federal government, such as USAID. Ultimately, his goal is to find a job where he can travel and use his French language skills.

David is originally from Silver Spring, Maryland. He likes to stay active, and his hobbies include playing basketball, snowboarding, biking, and hiking. He is also a big sports fan! He loves to watch football and college basketball and support his favorite teams, the Philadelphia Eagles and Maryland Terps.

David heard about Luminus through a professor at UMD and he was eager to work directly with clients.

“What attracted me to this internship was that I already had a relationship with Luminus from briefly volunteering over the summer. I got a taste of what Luminus did and I felt that the work was important and fulfilling. Many other internships do not allow for direct interaction with clients which is what I was looking for.”

In his role as an Economic Empowerment Intern, David will gain hands on experience working with new American job seekers and he will have the opportunity to create content for Luminus social media.
