What is a Luminator? We call our volunteers “luminators” because they play a critical role in helping us light the path for New Americans. As trusted members of the community — and often immigrants themselves — our volunteers ensure New Americans receive necessary support and services. This could include guiding immigrants as they enroll their children in school, providing tutoring for the citizenship test, or helping with legal research, among many other opportunities.
What type of commitment is necessary? Luminators typically make a 6-month commitment, during which they create their own schedule to work directly with clients in different areas. Currently, our greatest need is Spanish-speaking Luminators.
