“Letters from our Team” – Giving back to the community by Madiha Rahimi
Hi Community!
Some of you have probably already read my story in one of our newsletters, but today I want to share my experience working here at Luminus. As an Afghan woman, I feel an immense sense of gratitude, belonging, and purpose working for this incredible organization. Luminus has not only provided me with a supportive and welcoming work environment but has also allowed me to contribute to the noble mission of assisting fellow immigrants and refugees as they navigate the challenges of building a new life in the U.S.
Being an immigrant myself, I understand the unique struggles, hopes, and dreams that newcomers to this country have. Here at Luminus we recognize that all individuals, regardless of their country of origin, deserve a sense of belonging and an opportunity to thrive in their new community.
Working for Luminus means more than just having a job; it means being a part of a compassionate and diverse family that is dedicated to making a positive impact. When I see results of my work impacting lives, like other Afghan women getting driver’s licenses for the first time or children having access to school because we provide proof of address, I feel like I’m making a difference.
Moreover, being a part of an organization that celebrates and shares the stories of immigrants and refugees helps foster understanding and appreciation within the broader community. Luminus not only provides direct services but also illuminates the strength, resilience, and contributions of new Americans, helping to bridge gaps and build bridges of empathy and unity.
Being here allows me to give back to the community that welcomed me and, at the same time, allows me to be a light of hope and support for those who are embarking on their own journey towards a better future. Every person deserves the opportunity to shine and make a difference.
