“Letters from our Team” – Our journey has been a gift by Lucia Reyna

Hi community!

I hope this message finds you well and in good spirits. Today, I want to share with you why I love Luminus.

Luminus is a place where many people feel safe. From school issues, SNAP applications, English classes or legal matters, immigrants and refugees feel the freedom to come and ask for help. For many people, Luminus is the right place.

I love working here at Luminus because I have seen how useful we are in/for the community, feeling this connection with our clients and being able to help in different ways is a very rewarding feeling. Working in a place that feels like an umbrella for our community is a good feeling.

Personally, I enjoy working with our clients one-on-one in the legal department. There have been many success stories where I can see how this is life-changing for many families, from obtaining a work permit, a green card, or obtaining US citizenship. The cases and stories make me want to do more for our community.

Luminus has made a difference in many families. My wish is that this organization can grow and evolve over time, as it has been doing. It has been over 40 years since Luminus (formerly known as Firn) has existed and the mission remains the same: to serve those in need, to serve those who want a better life, to serve those who are trying to overcome many struggles, and to serve those who just want a better future in this country.

It truly is a gift to work for an organization like this. LOOKING FOR MANY YEARS OF SUCCESS! I am immensely proud to be part of an organization that offers this vital lifeline to our community. Our journey has been a gift and we are determined to see it flourish in the years to come.

I invite you to take 1 minute of your time and watch the beautiful video that the Howard County Library System produced about us: Click here.

Together, we can empower more families, touch more hearts, and create a better future for everyone. To become a monthly donor and be part of the Luminus community,  or contact us at info@beluminus.org.

With gratitude and warmest regards,
