Luminus Rejoins Howard County Housing Affordability Coalition
Columbia, Maryland. The Howard County Housing Affordability Coalition and the Luminus Network, Inc. will continue partnering to advocate for housing that is priced to meet the housing needs of Luminus’s clients and the entire community.
Each year, the 40-year old Luminus Network provides immigration legal services for hundreds of immigrant, asylee, and refugee clients from dozens of countries. Gabriel Moreno, Luminus Chief Executive Officer, said that, “Partnering with the Housing Affordability Coalition is consistent with Luminus’ Core Values of community, trustworthy, supportive, inclusive, and sustainable. Together, we will raise the voices of new Americans who work hard and deserve to have a fit and affordable home in Howard County.”
Outreach Committee coordinator Dana Sohr stated that Luminus Network is a welcome addition to the Coalition’s current 40-plus member organizations. “Inclusiveness and responsiveness to the needs of our community’s diverse residents is a Coalition priority. The stories and lived experience of these new Americans who struggle to find affordable housing in our community need to be heard.”
As Howard County government works to implement the recently adopted HoCo By Design General Plan, the Coalition and Luminus Network will collaborate on education and advocacy initiatives to ensure that the voices of new Americans working and hoping to live in our community are heard.
