Standing With Our Partners in Howard County
On Thursday, October 29, advocates gathered outside the Howard County government building in Ellicott City. State Senator Clarence Lam and Delegate Gabriel Moreno spoke about a bill that would let Howard County tax leased facilities with secure confinement capabilities. The bill comes as a new federal immigration facility nears completion in Elkridge. The Baltimore Banner has the full story.
Thank you, Senator Lam, for welcoming Luminus to the event. Delegate Moreno is a former Chief Executive Officer of Luminus, and we are proud of the work he continues to do for immigrant families in Maryland.
The fight to support immigrants in our community is being fought on many fronts. Some of it happens in courtrooms and legislative chambers. Some of it happens at kitchen tables, where our staff and volunteers help neighbors understand their rights and their options. All of it matters.
Luminus is proud to stand with the organizations represented at today’s gathering, including Indivisible and We Are CASA. We are grateful for their work and for everyone who showed up.
