Luminus Urges Maryland Legislators to Include Nonprofits in Maryland PORT Act

Luminus Network for New Americans urges Maryland legislators to include nonprofits in the Maryland Protecting Opportunities and Regional Trade (PORT) Act (SB1188/HB1526). The collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge has greatly impacted our communities, and nonprofits are crucial in providing essential services to those affected.

Currently, the PORT Act does not offer financial assistance to nonprofits, leaving nonprofit organizations strained as many support the impacted community. We request immediate action to expand the PORT Act’s relief programs to include nonprofits, ensuring comprehensive support for all affected individuals.

Please take action and join with Maryland Nonprofits in encouraging legislators to amend this important legislation.
